Republican Governors Association sets fundraising record
April 07, 2009
Washington, DC – Utilizing eNilsson's association member management tools, the Republican Governors Association announced today record fundraising numbers for 2008.
“The best way to grow the Republican Party is through the states and by electing effective Governors,” said RGA Chairman Governor Mark Sanford. “The Republican Governors Association’s continued fundraising success and careful planning will allow it to make an unprecedented impact on the 38 Governors races that will take place over the next two years.”
The RGA raised more than $27.5 million for the year and carried forward more than $14 million into 2009. The money raised last year surpassed the amount raised in 2007 by more than $6 million and was over $9 million more than the RGA raised in the last presidential election year.
“Republican Governors lead from the states by offering innovative examples of how to address the nation’s most pressing challenges – from energy and healthcare policy to environmental stewardship and emergency management,” Sanford said. “Electing more Republican Governors over the next two years will allow the GOP to rebuild from the states like it did during the Republican Revolution and the RGA has a plan in place to do just that.”
